My story:  may resonate with some of you. Maybe you have gone through a similar situation, and you felt like giving up. Being a survivor of any health crisis can be challenging, but I want you to know it’s okay, it’s okay to continue on your journey and be the best you can be in life. You see, starting that non-profit during my recovery helped me with finding myself and my true purpose in life. I knew I liked helping people, but this was now on a larger scale. I began donating my time to organizations who had the same mission I had during chemotherapy. That mission was to eradicate breast cancer and other health issues in my local community by hosting health fairs that offered free mammograms on-site, conferences, and workshops. I wrote mini grants and learned how to fund raise for my organization. My experience encouraged me to serve my community in a way I’d never thought I could. Volunteering with other organizations opened my mind to possibilities that I never dreamed of, and networking with national organizations I never thought I would have the opportunity to work alongside of and join their board of directors. My passion was ignited, and I was on a mission that I loved.

The following year I started my first for-profit business. I completed the documents for two contracts with the State of Florida Department of Education Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and another contract with the State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities. My most recent contract was established to work with Social Security Administration Ticket to Work Holders as an Employment Network Agency. It was a one year long process to be approved to hold a contract with the government. Agencies are required to go through the United States Homeland Security clearance and “I did it, and you know what, YOU CAN TOO!!.”
